Materials FACT is an independent failure analysis laboratory and engineering consulting business providing services for public and private entities including litigation, subrogation, ADR, and insurance. We provide laboratory analysis, testing, research and development, and materials selection services for your materials engineering solutions. We are organized into three divisions:

We have assisted individual consumers to Fortune 500 companies and may be available for any size project in any location, whether it’s for materials science consulting or forensic engineering investigations. While we most often conduct investigations in the Contiguous U.S. we are open to investigations overseas.

Joseph Quinn, P.E., Principal Materials Consultant

Mr. Quinn, founder of Materials FACT, is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in metallurgical engineering and is registered in CA, PA, UT, NV, AZ, CO, and WA. He has provided over 1000 investigations on metallic and non-metallic (glass, plastic, rubber, and composite) materials or products in litigation, subrogation, insurance claims and industrial incidents. Some of his experience has been working with Product Evaluation Systems, Industrial Testing Laboratory Services, the Basic Metals Processing Research Institute, SEAL Laboratories, EAG Laboratories, and Quinn Construction.

Mr. Quinn has 3 degrees in the fields of materials science and engineering; has received awards in the international metallographic contest; has conducted several presentations on materials engineering and failure analysis subjects at universities, ASM meetings and industry events; is currently Immediate Past President of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in California; and is active in technical societies and committees.
